Anton Bauer: Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg 2007

Tasting Notes:
A brilliant straw-gold yellow in color. On the nose, apples, pears, quince, and dried fruits with a hint of exotic spices. On the palate, a pleasant blend of nuts, spices, and the black pepper typical of Veltliners.  The fruit is nicely balanced by bold acidity and stays on the palate through the long finish.

Anton Bauer: Grüner Veltliner Gmörk 2007

Tasting Notes:
Wonderful, brilliant yellow wine with a typical Veltliner white pepper nose. It has a complex bouquet featuring tropical fruits, spice, pepper, nuts, and apples, followed by a soft mouth feel and a long, pleasant finish.

Leo Hillinger: Zweigelt 2006

Tasting Notes:
Dark ruby with a violet rim, this wine has an intense aroma of red berries with a distinctive spiciness. Lots of black pepper, but delicate and sensitive on the palate, the tannin structure is smooth, the finish balanced. “Best of Tasting” in The Wall Street Journal (September 2007) and the 2005 was #1 in The New York Times (June 2007).

Tasting Notes:
A light, crisp wine with a delicate fragrance of apples and orchard blossoms, classically fermented in stainless steel tanks.  The palate offers wonderfully gentle fruit with moderate acidity.

A wonderful soft and supple blend of 25% Pinot Noir, 25% St. Laurent, and 50% Merlot, made with classic fermentation. The flavours evoke dark berries and—delicately showing through—chocolate, in perfect harmony on the palate. A wine that matches many foods perfectly.

Tasting Notes:
Gently sparkling with fine fruit: that’s the Hillinger Secco—the new light pink wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. Fresh rosé color, extraordinarily elegant bubbles.  The bouquet has notes of strawberries and other red berries; fresh, fruity, and delicate on the palate.  These bold fruits balance a slight acidity and give the wine its lingering finish.

Michlits: Frizzante Blanc de Pinot Noir 2007

Tasting Notes:
This light sparkling wine gets its beautiful salmon color from its brief contact with the grape skins. The bouquet is floral with a strong scent of strawberry jam.  This wine’s light creaminess creates great balance with its slight sweetness and acidity.  The Frizzante style is less bubbly than other sparkling wines, making these wonderful aperitif!

Steininger: Zweigelt Novemberlese 2006

Tasting Notes:
This wine has a dark red color and an unmistakable bouquet of sour-cherries, nougat, and chocolate. Medium bodied with hints of pepper and spice. #2 in the New York Times‘ review of Zweigelts (June 2007); also featured in The Wall Street Journal (September 2007).

Steininger: Grüner Veltliner Young 2007

Tasting Notes:
An exciting blend of Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Muskateller (70%, 20%,10%) in which the Grüner Veltliner provides acidity to balance the tropical fruits from the Sauvignon Blanc and the floral aromas of the Muskateller.  The Grüner Veltliner appears as green apples and white pepper.  The grapefruit and other citrus notes are from the Sauvignon Blanc, while the Muskateller dominates the finish with a floral bouquet.

Tasting Notes:
Named after the architect who built the Loisium, Austria’s ultra-modern and spectacular museum of wine-making. Inviting tropical fruit on the nose, lemon oil, pepper, and spice notes and a delicate aroma of ripe apples. A complex, well-balanced wine with a full mouth feel and a long pleasant finish.

Steininger: Grüner Veltliner Grand Grü 2006

Tasting Notes:
This wine was aged in large acacia barrels which impart a golden yellow color and a strong nose with bold aromas of spices, peaches, and pears. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and well balanced. Grand Grü is a pleasant surprise as a crisp Grüner Veltliner featuring a Burgundian touch of oak.

Strauss: Sämling 88 (Scheurebe) 2007

Tasting Notes:
Rich aromas of peaches and elderflower leap out of the bottle and fill the room upon opening. On the palate are ripe peach and stone fruit flavors with excellent structure and a half-dry finish. A unique wine to experience, especially if you’re a fan of Viognier or other alternative varietals.

Subtle floral aromas permeate a core of soft pear fruit and fresh acidity, followed by a long smooth finish with a hint of nuts. Excellent balance. Pairs well with a wide variety of foods.

A beautiful pink salmon color and a floral nose with notes of rose petals and strawberries. The palate features strawberry, watermelon, and cherry fruits with a pleasant, bright acidity. Smooth and juicy with an amazing dry finish.

Tegernseerhof: Grüner Veltliner T26

Tasting Notes:
“T26” gets its name from the tank (number 26!) in which Martin Mittelbach makes this hand-selected wine in his family owned winery, “Tegernseerhof”.  The nose has the aromas of green apples, melon, and a hint of citrus.  These fruits follow through on the palate of this exceptionally well-balanced wine. Mineral notes along with white pepper and a touch of spice help to create its refreshing and long finish.
